Peoria, Ill. -

It is no secret media types do not like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity.
Therefore, it is no surprise that many media types at the national and local level are finding every way possible to criticize and belittle those who organized and attended the local Tea Party and those held in other cities.
The PJS editorial board asks where these people were when the Bush administration was waging a war and other things that significantly ramped up the size of government? That's a fair question.
I suspect many of those protesting on Wednesday were not happy about some actions by the Bush administration, even if they did not join the small protests held by the Peoria Peace Network. One does not have to be part of a large organized protest to be involved or angry.
Conservatives are being criticized for not acting in an organized way earlier. And, now that they act together in an organized way they are criticized and dismissed as partisan.
The majority got their way. Obama is the president. The majority cannot realistically also expect the minority to sit idly by while the size of government and spending grows even more.
Some of those attending the protest made some good points with their comments for those with a mind open enough to absorb what was being said.
Wayne R. Miller was a good example. “Government spending has been out of control for a long time,” Miller said. “If government spending was really the answer to a recession why did we have a recession to begin with?”
JUDGMENT: It is out of line to say those who have not spoken out before now have invalid opinions. For most people activism is just a word, not an activity. Activism, for those who care enough to get involved, has a starting point. Getting involved merits praise, even if the point of view being pushed is not embraced by others.
