Traffic stop nets felony drug charges

Morton, Ill. -

A traffic stop made by an Illinois State Police trooper resulted in the arrest of four Peorians on felony drug charges Thursday night.

According to an Illinois State Police press release, a trooper stopped a sport utility vehicle with four occupants at the 102 mile marker on Interstate 74 in Morton.

Upon searching the vehicle, the trooper arrested Michael B. Jackson, 27, Christopher K. Reuter, 17, Charles E. Watkins, 23, and Lamarco O. Headd, 18, all of Peoria, after locating about 905 grams of marijuana with a street value of $9,100, and 65 grams of cocaine valued at $6,500.

The trooper also seized $760 from Jackson, who was driving the sport utility vehicle.

All four were arrested on charges of possession of cannabis over 500 grams with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. They were booked into Tazewell County Jail, currently
held without bond while awaiting a mandatory court appearance.
