Peoria fire chief Kent Tomblin said in fire service there is very little one can predict.
But, he said, in Peoria one thing fire fighters are assured of is that the service calls they answer are going to grow annually, especially in North Peoria.
“We’ve been increasing our responses consistently over the past 10 years,” Tomblin said last week.
“Our territory has increased. And, baby boomers have hit us.”

Peoria firefighters fear little, according to Peoria fire chief Kent Tomblin. But, one thing Tomblin and the men of Peoria Fire Station 16 on Northmoor Road admit they fear is a city council looking for ways to cut a budget deficit.
Tomblin and his men have seen what a council bent on cutting costs have done in the past to the fire department. Prior to last week’s city council meeting Tomblin admitted his fear.
“I’m absolutely afraid about cuts,” Tomblin said. “Every department head in the city has that fear.”

Despite constant demand for cocaine Peoria has been experiencing some short-lived shortages of the intoxicating white powder lately.
The cause of the shortages, according to Larry Hawkins, director of the Multi-County Narcotics Enforcement Group, is a dearth of dealers, as MEG agents have racked up big numbers in just the first two months of the annual battle against drug suppliers.

On Monday, at about 10:50 p.m., a female driver was flagged down by what she believed to be a stranded motorist in the area of Willow Knolls and Allen Road. 

Once the female stopped, the suspect produced a black handgun, ordered her to the ground and robbed her of an undisclosed amount of cash.  After the robbery, the suspect drove away in the vehicle he portrayed to be disabled.

A man, whom police have not yet identified, was shot last night at Villa Bordeaux Apartments, 5250 N. Knoxville.

A North Peorian was arrested Sunday after he allegedly opened fire into a Burger King in Morton.

The rules have changed in Peoria Heights in regards to police officers wearing uniforms or using squad cars in any political activities. 
Peoria Heights police officers will no longer be allowed to participate in election activities while in uniform or use village squad cars in photos that could be used in election campaign materials.
