Dr. Norm Durflinger, interim superintendent of District 150, responded this afternoon to the question "Why is District 150 reluctant to run like a business?"
Durflinger, a 40 year veteran of education, did not shirk from the question posed at today's noon meeting of the Suburban Kiwanis Club.
"We don't worry about profit and loss. Education is a mission for educators. We will spend every dollar we get for education. You give us all the money we ask for and in two years we will ask for more," Durflinger said.
"Ask educators why we don't run schools like a business and they will say, 'Why did we have to have stimuls package to bail out banks that were run like a business?'"
I offer no editorial comment of my own. I leave that to you the reader.
